Stylish natural footer Rebecca Woods AKA Bec Woods at only 26 has a list of achievements that reads like that of a seasoned professional. Bec won an Australian Junior Title at 16 and went on to become the World Junior Champion at 18. Being a two time Professional Junior series champion in 2002 and 2004, it was only a matter of time before Bec would be intercepted into the women’s elite world professional tour and as a young 19 year old her dream of surfing amongst the world’s best came true.

Bec has since spent the last five years in the top 10 of her sport, with a career high of sixth and finished in ninth position in 2009. With two new events on tour which suit Bec’s style, 2011 is going to be a big year for this exciting young female athlete. Being a dedicated advocate for the progression of female surfing Bec has appeared on many avenues of media from print – her recent published work can be read here.

Bec Woods also has a quick wit and charismatic, good humor that has seen her invited to commentate at numerous professional events and many radio and television appearances including movie exposure in AKA Girl Surfer, Fuel TV, The Daily Habit and MTV. Bec is a great asset to any company in front of the microphone or behind it!

Bec also understands the importance of life after surfing and is currently studying a Bachelor of Business externally from Southern Cross University. She also finished high school in the top seven percentile of her state, showing a high level of focus and commitment in anything she participates. Bec was also an Ambassador for International day for People with a Disability in 2007 and has a sister with a disability who is the driving force behind her motivation for the top.

She also has an avid interest in writing and photography, has recently had her work published in many prominent surfing magazines and enjoys documenting her many travel adventures. Traveling the world has certainly opened Bec’s eyes to the many endless possibilities at her feet and with the World Tour events format changing for the better in 2011 she is excited to explode out of the blocks.
