This trip had a strong charity focus with expert lensman Joel Coleman of Saltmotion.com filming a documentary on surf travel, exploration and local villages. The team stayed with a local family in a hut built on a small man-made coral island in the middle of a large lagoon for 10 days. When they weren’t out surfing perfect, glassy, empty lines, they were heading into remote villages, seemingly un-touched by western ways, meeting the tribal people, passing on gifts and teaching the local children to surf.

“It’s been one of the best trips of my life as far as travel and line-ups. There’s no-one around surfing. The people are beautiful. The actual experience of what we’ve done is more than just essentially surfing.” said Bec Woods.
